Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Rushaga, Nkuringo, Ruhija, and Buhoma are the four areas of Bwindi where gorilla trekking takes place. Gorilla trekking in every sector begins early in the morning, when hikers gather at the briefing site to hear from park wardens about the activity’s rules and regulations.
Trekkers are divided into groups of no more than 8 people, and their permits are verified at the briefing location.
Trekkers are led by armed ranger guides through the bush, guiding them along the proper paths until they come across the designated gorilla family. A variety of species, including jackals, gigantic forest hogs, otters, buffaloes, duikers, elephants, birds, and flora, can be encountered by the hikers during the quest.
